Shadi-byah... The Big Fat Indian wedding is one of the most favourite components of Indian films.

And a wedding cannot be complete without a beautiful bride.

It will be tough to find one Bollywood actress, who has never played a bride on screen.

From Meena Kumari to Madhuri Dixit and Kimi Katkar to Katrina, almost every Bollywood heroine has enjoyed playing the quintessential Indian bride at least once in her career.

So, as the wedding seasons enjoy a full bloom, let’s take a look at some of the most stylish onscreen brides of Bollywood...

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

One of the few actresses who look as beautiful in traditional wear as she looks in western wear, Aishwarya Rai has played a bride in many Bollywood films.

However, our personal favourite is this Bengali Bou look she adorned for Devdas.

Dressed in rich brocade saree complete with the motifs on her forehead and red alta on her hands, she looks like a dream, every girl wants to live.

Kajol

She played a bride in her most popular film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

While that was an all gold look, the yummy mummy yet again posed as a bride in My Name in Khan.

Here. She looked ravishing and more of a subtle bride dressed in a sexy red saree.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina played a bride straight from a big fat Punjabi wedding in Simgh is Kingg.

She looked gorgeous dressed in the lehenga choli.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

She is another actress, who got a chance to play a bride more than once.

And it won’t be wrong to say that she looked more beautiful every time.

While in 3 Idiots, Kareena’s bridal look was more on the traditional lines with a twist added by her spectacles and the scooter that she zoomed on, in Chup Chup Ke she ditched the red with a green lehenga.

No wonders the drift in the bridal look many ideas to the would be brides, who started experimenting with colours.

Priyanka Chopra

One of the boldest brides ever played on screen has to be Priyanka Chopra in the film Kaminey.

Posing as a Marathi bride, she looked hot in green Navari and those traditional gold chains and nath completed her look.

What to say about those moves, they were good enough to kill.

Anushka Sharma

Leggy lass, Anushka Shara got the chance to play a bride in her very first film.

She played a Punjabi bride in Rab Ne Banadi Jodi, where her bridal look comprised of a heavily embellished Kurta, Patiala salwar and a dupatta. She looked gorgeous.

Rani Mukherjee

Rani Mukherjee might be waiting eagerly to play a bride in real life but the petite beauty has posed as one in reel life on occasions more than one.

However, her bridal look that we loved the most was in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, where she played a perfect Indian bride.

That’s a different story that this Indian bride had guts to say no to a loveless marriage.

Bipasha Basu

Bengali beauty Bips also got two chances to play a bride on screen.

One was a Hindu bride while in the other she posed as a traditional Bengali bride.

While the Bong look suited Bipasha as hand in the glove, we aren't a big fan of hers in the Punju bride look.

Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit’s most popular bridal look has to be the one in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.

Even she chose to take a different route and picked up an all gold ensemble rather than red.

We particularly liked her matha patti, which added a mark of completion to her quintessential Indian bride look.

Katrina Kaif

Keeping in mind her half-British looks, Katrina looked ravishing in the pristine white wedding gown in the film Namaste London.

Minimalist make-up and enchanting curls completed her look.

Preity Zinta

Preity played a Muslim bride in Veer Zaara and how!

She has never looked as beautiful as she looked in that bridal look, which was accentuated by her very prominent nose-ring, zardozi ensemble.

Mallika Sherawat

You don’t get to see much of this Haryanvi beauty, but her bridal look in Pyaar Ke Side Effects in a shocking pink lehenga was quite an eye grabber.
