'Byari' fame Mallika turns director

The true life story of Kanakam, written by Kaloor Dennis in the Malayala Manorama Sunday Supplement becomes the script for a reel story.

Kanakam who enters industry as the dupe of yester year heroine Yamunadevi, has to suffer much from the male dominated society both physically and mentally. Her sufferings and shattered dreams are filmed by actress Mallika.

This is Mallika’s debut as a director who has won a Special Mention for her performance in ‘Byari’ in the National Film Awards.

Bhavana does the role of Yamunadevi and the director Mallika herself will enact Kanakam. Kaloor Dennis will be the script writer of this movie.

The lyrics by Shashikala Venugopal are tuned by singer Manjari. This is Manjari’s debut venture as a music director.

Ottappalam, Palani, and Chennai are the locations.
