Christian Bale in talks to star as Steve Jobs in upcoming biopic
Oct 16, 2014 NRChristian Bale is almost set to star as Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic.
Variety reports that Bale, who had been rumored for the role in the past, is now "in talks" to play Jobs in the Danny Boyle-directed Sony movie. The Social Network's Aaron Sorkin penned the screenplay adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography titled Steve Jobs.
David Fincher had originally been announced as the film’s director, but left the project after an argument with Sony about his salary and the marketing of the film. Bale had been Fincher’s first choice to play Jobs.
After the appointment of Danny Boyle as Fincher's replacement, Leonardo DiCaprio had been circling the role, but passed because he reportedly wants to take some time off from acting.
It won't be your usual birth-to-death approach. Instead, Sorkin revealed in 2012 that his script utilizes three "real time" 30-minute scenes to capture the Mac, NeXT, and iPod product launches, in 1984, 1997, and 2001 respectively.
Insiders say Bale would likely shoot Jobs in the spring and follow it up with The Deep Blue Goodbye.
