New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) Director-writer Christopher Nolan has began filming his forthcoming sci-fi film "Interstellar" in Alberta.

Leading production and distribution companies Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc. and Warner Bros. Pictures announced Wednesday that the principal photography on "Interstellar" is officially underway in Alberta.

The film travels across the globe and utilises a mixture of 35mm anamorphic format and IMAX film photography to bring to the screen a script - a combination of Christopher's original idea and an existing script written by his brother Jonathan Nolan for Paramount Pictures and producer Lynda Obst.

The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

The film features veteran actors like Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Wes Bentley, Ellen Burstyn and Michael Caine to name a few.

"Interstellar" is scheduled to release in IMAX and 35mm theaters, Nov 7, 2014.

Paramount Pictures will distribute the film in the US whereas, Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute it internationally.
