The 11th edition of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) started in Chennai in style. Kamal Haasan and Aamir Khan were the chief guests. Aamir presence made a huge difference to the event and it is said that Aamir came for the event due to E Thangaraj, the founder general secretary of CIFF.


Aamir Khan appreciated the efforts of E. Thangaraj and lauded him for bringing the Indian panorama and world cinema to the Chennai audience.


Kamal Haasan in his speech criticized the censor board and said that qualified people are needed to censor the films.


The festival is eight days long and is being conducted in association with the Tamil Nadu government.


The festival will screen movies from Serbia, Turkey, Taiwan and Hungary.
