Composer S. Balakrishnan passes away

Music director S. Balakrishnan, who has composed melodious songs for a host of films, died at his residence at Neelankarai in Chennai at 11 am on Thursday. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer for more than a year. The musician was 69.


Cremation was held at 4.30 pm in the electric crematorium at Besant Nagar. He has composed songs mainly for the films of director duo Siddique-Lal during the beginning of their career. ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’, ‘In Harihar Nagar,’ ‘Vietnam Colony’, ‘Godfather,’ ‘Kilukkampetti’ and ‘Mazhavil Koodaram’ are some of the films in which he has scored music.


Balakrishnan is survived by wife Rajalakshmi, sons Sreevalsan and Vimal Shankar. Click the Movie button below for more info:
