It was recently reported by many media houses that the Khiladi of Bollywood aka Akshay Kumar was all set to play Prime Minister Narendra Modi onscreen in the latter’s biopic.

In fact, CBFC’s Chairperson Pahlaj Nihlani was quoted by a web portal saying, “I can’t think of anyone better than Akshay Kumar to play our Prime Minster Narendra Modiji. He has a spotless image of an idealist and visionary. And look at the kind of work he’s doing. ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘PadMan’ are the cinema of social reform that Guru Dutt and V Shantaram were associated with. Also, Akshay has risen from humble working-class beginnings to become a national star, just like Modiji. We are certainly looking at very strong possibilities of Akshay playing Modiji.”

And as much as we would love to see Akki playing the PM, his spokesperson has denied the news. Akshay’s representative confirmed it with a popular web portal that he won’t be playing Narendra Modi.

A month ago, Akshay Kumar had met PM Modi and briefed him about his upcoming film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, the theme of which - sanitation - meshes with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan spearheaded by Mr Modi's government. This perhaps sparked off rumors that Akki will next play the PM.
