Diljit Dosanjh happy to romance Anushka Sharma

Punjabi heartthrob — Diljit Dosanjh, who made his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab last year, is quite thrilled about the fact that he got the opportunity to romance Anushka Sharma in his second outing in Bollywood — Phillauri.

The actor-singer, who is a sensation in his homeland, has done a few Punjabi rom-coms, however, a proper romantic film was missing from his filmography and Diljit was keen on signing a film that would help him bring to screen his quixotic side.

So, when the makers of Phillauri approached him to play Anushka Sharma’s love interest in the film, Diljit obviously couldn’t say no, as not only was the script enticing but also, he was finally getting to play a romantic hero.

“I had never done a proper romantic film. I have done Punjabi rom-coms but not a romantic film. So, I am very happy that I got to do a romantic film and that too with a big artiste like Anushkaji. I was a little scared at first. But when the camera was on, everything was fine,” Diljit revealed in an interview.

According to reports, Diljit will be seen playing an alcoholic artiste in the film, with slight shades of grey. The film also stars Life Of Pi actor Suraj Sharma.

Written by Anvita Dutt, directed by Anshai Lal, and produced by Anushka Sharma’s production company Clean Slate Films, Phillauri is set to hit the screens on March 24.
