Distributors & exhibitors request Shah Rukh Khan to compensate for Jab Harry Met Sejal loss

After Salman Khan’s magnanimous gesture of compensating the distributors and exhibitors with Rs. 33 crores for the losses of his recent release ‘Tubelight,’ the distributors and exhibitors are hoping Shah Rukh Khan to follow suit and reimburse them for the losses they faced due to ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal.’

Talking about the same, exhibitor Manoj Desai said to a daily, “Since it was an Eid release, I had put up ‘Tubelight’ in Gaiety, Galaxy and Maratha Mandir thinking that it will run for two to four weeks. It didn’t and I lost money. Learning from the experience I put up ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ only in Gaiety and Maratha Mandir. I think Shah Rukhji (Khan) too should follow suit (in compensating distributors and exhibitors).”

The biggest loss maker out here is NH Studioz. It had acquired the territorial rights of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, thereby making a loss for himself. The performance of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ at the box office has been so disastrous that even the distributors who bought the rights of the film at lower prices lost a big chunk of their investment.

Reports suggest that they have now sent a message to SRK requesting him to pay for their losses. They have asked for a refund, since apparently Shah Rukh Khan had made good profits from the pre-sale of All India Rights to NH Studioz, satellite, music and digital rights.

In the past, Shah Rukh Khan had compensated distributors with Rs. 25 crores in 2015 for his film ‘Dilwale’. Well, knowing the star’s generous nature, this time around to he would reimburse them for the losses incurred.
