Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to star in new 'Baywatch' movie
Oct 7, 2014 NRThe Rock is headed to the beach.
Franchise star Dwayne Johnson ("G.I. Joe," "Fast and Furious") will help resurrect the "Baywatch" brand in a big screen remake of the '90s syndicated hit.
He tweeted a confirmation of the rumors yesterday, saying, "'This is my beach bitch!' Rumors are true... we're making #BAYWATCH the movie..."
Although no other cast members have been revealed, Sean Anders and John Morris ("We're the Millers") are set to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Baywatch" originally aired from 1989 - 1999, and starred David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth and a bevy of bodacious beach bods.
Johnson has a busy year ahead of him. After the April 2015 release of "Fast and Furious 7," he'll suit up for "G.I. Joe 3" and as the anti-hero Black Adam in DC and WB's "Shazam!"
