FEFSI announces strike again, shooting stopped
Sep 2, 2017 JBA few weeks ago, Tamil film industry had come to a standstill of sorts because of the strike announced by FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India) due to a tiff between them and the Producer Council.
Now, the same situation has once again risen. FEFSI has announced an indefinite strike, with effect from yesterday (1st September), due to which the production of many Tamil films has been called off.
As per Angamuthu Shanmugam, general secretary of FEFSI, Tamil Film Producers' Council has been inviting Visual Communication students to work in the various technical fields in the film industry. This according to him will affect the FEFSI. He further explains that this move by the Producer Council is basically to make FEFSI week. An agitation is planned for the 5th September. As of now, 42 films shooting has been stopped. Even the pre-production and post-production work has been stopped as part of the strike. This is sure to have an adverse effect on many film’s progress and also release date.
