Film on Red Sander shoot out

Recently Tamil Nadu was shocked with the shoot out of twenty alleged Red Sanders smugglers from Tamil Nadu in the forests of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. Investigation is presently going on but meanwhile a Tamil film is already being made on this hot topic.

This film is being directed by Augustin and Kalidas. The directors say, "We started the shoot within days of the incident, with established actors in the industry. The film, titled Thookumara Pookal, is based on the red sanders shootout, but we have also added some sub-plots to reach the audience. We are currently shooting important sequences in Dharmapuri and Tirunelveli districts. The official announcement of the cast and crew will be out in another two weeks."

It can be recalled that on earlier occasions too, real incidents have been brought alive on screen, the example being Vana Yuddham on forest brigand Veerappan.
