Gandhimathi Balan passes away

Film producer Gandhimathi Balan passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. He was 66. Balan was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in the capital city.

Balan is the producer of some of the notable movies in Malayalam including 'Panchavadippalam', 'Thoovanathumbikal', 'Sukhamo Devi', 'Malootty', 'Nombarathipoovu', 'Ithirineram Othirikaaryam', 'Irakal', Adaminte Vaariyellu' and 'Moonnampakkam' etc. He was a close companion of the late writer-director P Padmarajan.

Balan is survived by wife Anitha Balan and children Soumya Balan (Founder, Alibi Cyber Forensics) and Anantha Padmanabhan.
