Gauahar Khan slapped by reality show's audience member
Dec 2, 2014 NRActress-model-host Gauahar Khan gets slapped on the sets of the singing reality show “India's Raw Star” in Mumbai by one of the audience members for alleged indecency, on Sunday night.
A case stands registered with the Police, which is being investigated now.
An official from Aarey Colony police station told reporters, "Last night (Sunday night), the accused Mohammad Akil Malik was brought here and he is in our custody. We are investigating this case."
The “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year” actress had sought help from police Sunday night itself.
The accused had been reportedly observing the model for the last three days. On Sunday night, he suddenly got up and went to the stage. He asked her how could she wear skimpy outfits and dance to cheap songs despite being a Muslim, before slapping her.
Gauahar can't believe what has happened to her.
“This is also a terror and it has nothing to do with any belief. No religion or culture gives you the permission of being violent", she said.
“This loser does not represent my beautiful faith, which in itself means peace and submission”.
“I am not here to promote any kind of dress code, or state that one must or must not wear certain clothes. I am only here to state that no one has the right to attack or hurt anybody for excising one's personal thoughts or beliefs”.
“I fully trust the judicial system of our country and whatever will happen to him, I believe that will create fear”.
“Who allows the moron to decide what the world should be doing or how a girl should dress? Why doesn't a loser like him have a fear of the law before he decides to attack a girl who is unarmed, unprepared".
"It angers me to realise that a man thought it's okay to raise his hand and be violent to a woman at his will”, the offended actress added.
Members of the film fraternity have expressed shock and disbelief at the incident. Varun Dhawan, Huma Qureshi and Madhur Bhandarkar were a few to react first.
"It's terrible. No one will support something like that. If I was there I would have definitely picked up the hammer against that guy and it's a very cowardly act and that man should be punished", actor Varun commented.
