George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's wedding cost a fortune

Hollywood star George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's Venice wedding was a costly affair with approximately $1.6 million spent on the ceremony, sources say.

Speculative reports placing the price tag anywhere from $5 million to upwards of $13 million are erroneous, according to a source.

One department where they saved quite some money was the bar. As a founder of Casamigos Tequila, Clooney and business partner and wedding guest Rande Gerber flew 100 cases of the brand's award-winning Blanco, Reposado and Añejo tequila from California to Italy for the wedding festivities.

Clooney's marriage to the human rights lawyer was witnessed by stars like Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Bono and Cindy Crawford.
