After a series of erotic thrillers, television heartthrob Gurmeet Choudhary, who has now decided to do clean films only, is all set to play a military man in JP Dutta’s ‘Paltan’.

The actor will join the likes of Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty among others in the war drama, and reportedly will be seen playing a Major in the film.

Talking about it, Gurmeet said, “It’s a huge honour to work with JP sir. Since my father has served the army and his country for several years, I've been fascinated to play a soldier on the big screen. Also, I feel bringing the life of an army soldier alive on screen would be a very interesting journey. It's a gift to my father!”

Director JP Dutta, who is known for his war dramas like ‘Border’ and ‘LOC Kargil’, said in a statement, “It's time to tell a new story, to tell another part of the history of our country and salute more real-life heroes! I present ‘Paltan’. A film and a subject very close to my heart and I'm extremely excited about it.”

Produced by JP Films and directed by Dutta, the film will go on the floors later this year and is scheduled for a Summer 2018 release.
