Happy birthday A R Rahman

Isaipuyal A R Rahman celebrates his birthday today, the 6th of January. Born as A S Dileep, Rahman broke into the Tamil film music horizon with the Mani Ratnam directorial Roja. His music in the film was a blockbuster hit which is followed by hits after hits and there was no turning back for this immensely talented musician from then.

Rahman brought laurels to India and especially to Tamil Nadu when he won his Oscar Awards and that too, two. He has also won two Grammy awards, a BAFTA, a golden Globe, four National awards and many more Filmfare awards.

This year also he has nominations for his original score in three films, one of them being Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan. 2014 heard Rahman’s scores in Kochadaiiyaan, I, Kaaviya Thalaivan and Lingaa from Tamil. His next Tamil composition would be for Mani Ratnam’s Okay Kanmani. Nowrunning wishes this talented and humble musician a very happy birthday!
