Happy birthday director Shankar

Ace director Shankar celebrates his birthday today, the 17th of August. He entered film industry as an assistant to Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s dad S A Chandrasekar and also Pavithran. Later on he made his debut as a director though Gentleman which had Arjun and Madhubala. The film about a vigilante was much appreciated and had the superb music of AR Rahman.

Later on he directed films like Mudhalvan, Indian, Jeans, Boys, Enthiran, and Anniyan to name a few. He had also directed a few of his films in Hindi like Nayak. He started his production company called as S Pictures and through which he supported his assistants to direct films, the notable ones being Vasantha Balan, Balaji Sakthivel etc.

Currently he is directing Rajinikanth in the sequel of Enthiran titled as 2.0 or Enthiran 2 which also has Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson. Nowrunning wishes this prolific director a very happy birthday and many more to come!
