Arjun Kapoor is all set with his next film ‘Half Girlfriend’, which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel of the same name. Arjun had earlier even essayed the lead role in ‘2 States’, which was again based on Chetan’s literary work.

However, while many actors would prefer to read the literary works on which their film is based, Arjun has a completely different philosophy and refused to read the novel – Half Girlfriend.

“When I did ‘2 States’, even then I had not read the novel, and the film was a super hit and now I didn’t read this one again because of superstition,” Arjun joked during the trailer launch of the film.

He further added, “I first got the script from Mohit. Also, I had the basic idea of the story because Half Girlfriend was a very successful novel. So, I was aware of the story to a certain extent. But I wanted to read it from the director’s point of view because eventually, I didn’t want to have the baggage of what portions of the book have been removed and what portions have been retained. I wanted the script to be the deciding factor for me. And I knew that Chetan and Mohit (Suri) were working together on the script. I have not read the book but I will say that the script is very close to the book.”

Directed by Mohit Suri, ‘Half Girlfriend’, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor, deals with the commitment issues that the youth face today and is releasing on May 19, 2017.
