I did not cast Gauthami in Papanasam, Kamal

Kamal Haasan’s Papanasam, which is the remake of Malayalam Drishyam, will hit the screen today, the 3rd July. The Tamil version features Kamal Haasan reprising the role of Mohanlal and Gauthami in Meena’s role. Music is by Ghibran and cinematography is by Sujith Vasudevan.


The promotions of the movie saw Kamal talking to media about the film and associated things. Clarifying on his personal beliefs and the film as such, Ulaganayagan says, “Ever since the promos of the film were released, I’ve been asked why I appear with vibhuti for the role despite being an atheist. I am an atheist but my personal views are different from cinema. I don’t like to thrust my personal beliefs via my films. In the film, I am portraying a character not myself”



On casting Gauthami in the film, Kamal said that it was not his call but director Jeethu Joseph felt that it would be appropriate for the actress. Click the Movie button below for more info:
