Ilayaraja's songs cannot be sung in Karaoke app

Music composer Ilayaraja’s songs are the favorites of many and for each emotion, there are plenty of songs to choose from the veteran composer’s compositions. Recently, in the Karaoke apps, SMULE, there were many who had sung his songs which were going viral in the social media.

Raja’s legal team had sprung to action and has forced Karaoke app Smule to remove his songs from its database. The maestro has sent letters to Smule and 15 other music app developers and websites that charge users for his songs. It can be recalled that earlier on, in March, Ilayaraja had sent a legal notice to S P Balasubramaniem, restricting him from singing his songs without permission when the singer was having his US tour concert.

Ilayaraaja's copyrights consultant said, “Ilaiyaraaja is only against the unauthorized use of his songs by private companies for monetary gains. His songs are available for free on YouTube but he is not opposing it."
