“Vaakku Pookkunna Kaalam”, a television program that records the literary history of Kerala, will be aired in Asianet News channel from December 4th. The program glorifies Kerala’s romance with the word in prose, verse, lyrics, visuals, and more through the works of some of the greatest writers in Malayalam.

The opening episodes will showcase the history of Malayalam literature followed by the literary milestones after the 19th century, followed by the pink decade and the works till 1956. Many writers themselves talk about their favorite works and related aspects.

There is also a celebrity segment, where actors like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Sreenivasan, Kavya Madhavan, Manju Warier, and others read excerpts from their favorite works. Mammootty was so enthusiastic about it and he found time for his reading sessions in between his shooting. He read excerpts from “Nalukettu”as a ‘gurudhakshina’ to M T Vasudevan Nair. He also talked much about Basheer, said M G Radhakrishnan, editor of Asianet News who has conceptualized the program.
