Irrfan Khan feels there won't be many Baahubalis

While the recently released ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ is creating history in Indian Cinema, Irrfan Khan, who is all set with his upcoming film ‘Hindi Medium,’ feels that though director SS Rajamouli’s film is praiseworthy and at par with Hollywood, we need more such films.

In an interview with a popular web portal, Irrfan said that while it is a great beginning that films like ‘Baahubali’ are being made, Indian cinema needs more personal and local stories to survive and just one ‘Baahubali’ cannot bring the audience.

“There is a lot of audience. If you see the business of cinema, it is going down. The percentage of people coming to the theaters have decreased. Hollywood will keep growing. You won't have many Baahubalis. We need more. We need Hindi cinemas to come up with stories that the local guy can relate to. We have lost the interest in telling stories. We are not concerned about telling stories. We are only concerned about the star status. Stories are just a medium. We have lost the art and drive of storytelling. Unless and until a director comes whose primary drive is to tell stories, we won't be able to revive the strength,” said Irrfan.

Irrfan will next be seen in ‘Hindi Medium’ alongside Saba Qamar. The film is scheduled to release on May 12.
