Jagathy Sreekumar's film getting ready for release

‘Mathruvandanam’ with the two great actors Jagathy Sreekumar and Sukumari in the lead roles is getting ready for release. This is the one of the last films done by Jagathy before his accident and the last film of Sukumari.

‘Mathruvandanam’ is based on a true story where a mother looks after her mentally retarded son on the street. They are being sent away from their home when the son, who was clever at his young age, becomes mentally challenged on a later period. The heart rendering story of this mother and son who finds it very difficult to make the two ends meet is made into a movie by M K Devarajan under the banner of Bharathi Films.

The aged mother who runs after the son when he becomes violent and later consoles him and makes him sleep on her lap is a painful sight to the people around. Jagathy Sreekumar and Sukumari play the mother and the son. This socially relevant movie also casts Madambu Kunjikkuttan, Saiju Kurup, Sunil Sugatha, Sivaji Guruvayoor, K P A C Lalitha, Urmila Unni in other major roles. The movie is expected to reach the theatres in May last.
