Jai arrested for drunken driving

Actor Jai was arrested for driving a car under the influence of alcohol and hitting a divider in Adyar, Chennai early on Thursday, the 21st September. He was later released on bail. This is in fact the second time, the actor had been caught for drunken driving.

The police said that Jai and Premgi Amaren, along with a few other film artistes, had partied at a star hotel in Nungambakkam till the wee hours. Later, he left for his house at Indira Nagar along with his friends. When the car was on the Adyar flyover trying to turn into LB Road, he lost control and rammed the divider. This was reported by passersby to police.

Using a breath analyser, the police found that Jai had drunk. He was booked under Sections 185 (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs) of the Motor Vehicles Act and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code.
