‘Jigarthanda' sequel on cards

On the eighth anniversary of his sleeper hit comedy drama ‘Jigarthanda’, director Karthik Subbaraj announced that the scripting process for its sequel had commenced.

"Eight years of 'Jigarthanda' and…” Karthik Subbaraj tweeted while sharing the video on August 1.

The video features Bobby Simha as a quirky Madurai-based gangster Sethu. In the new video, we find a monochrome video of Sethu that intercuts with someone preparing a glass of Jigarthanda. After preparing the first glass, another glass of Jigarthanda is placed right next to it, hinting that the film is currently in the pre-production phase.

‘Jigarthanda’, starred by Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran, and Guru Somasundaram, had actor Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo role. Bobby Simha bagged the national award for the Best Supporting Actor for this film, while Vivek Harshan also won a national award in the ‘Best Editing’ category.
