Kangana Ranaut turns 80-year-old for her directorial debut

In times, when most reigning actresses would even refuse to play a mother onscreen, Kangana Ranaut has surprised everyone by making an announcement that she will play an 80-year-old in her directorial debut — ‘Teju.’


‘Teju’ is a story of a woman of the same, name who is on the threshold of death but still is not ready to leave the world. And Kangana, despite being in her thirties will be seen playing the title role of the 80-year-old woman in the film, which shall also be co-produce by her.



Talking about her role, the ‘Simran’ actress revealed in a statement, “I will play an 80-year-old woman in my first directorial ‘Teju.’ Teju is a warm, vibrant woman, full of life, who doesn’t feel old at all. The film will be about every old person I know and have loved. It will also be a lot about me as I am older than my years.”


The ‘Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi’ actress, who is also penning the script of the film, said that her film will touch upon issues like mortality and the essence of existence but not in a way that is dark, depressing or boring.


The film goes on floors in December and is scheduled to release by 2018 end. It will be shot in the Himalayas.
