Mar 21, 2022 KRR

Actor Kani Kusruti’s latest Malayalam film Nishiddho (Forbidden), which deals with the lives of migrants in an urban setting in Kerala, has garnered the attention of film buffs at the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala 2022 (IFFK). The second screening of the film at IFFK will be held on March 22. It has been selected for the International Competition section of the film festival.

Directed by debutante Tara Ramanujan, the movie is under KSFDC’s 'Films Directed by Women' project, which is part of the Kerala government’s endeavour to support aspiring women directors. This is the second film under the project.

According to the director, the film portrays the strengths of women. The film showcases a relationship that blooms between a Bengali man and a Tamil woman at their workplace in Kerala. Kani Kusruti plays the character Chaavi and Tanmay Dhanania plays Rudra, an idol-maker from Kolkata.

KSFDC’s first film under the women directors’ project was ‘Divorce’, directed by Mini I.G., and it will be released next month. Third in the list is ‘Inheritance’, directed by Indu B.R.

‘Nishiddho’ was also screened in the recently-concluded Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes). Click the Movie button below for more info:
