Kumarimuthu passes away

Comedian Kumarimuthu passed away at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai in the late hours of 28th February. He was 77 and is survived by his wife Punniyavathi and three daughters Selvapushpa, Elizabeth Mary and Kavitha and a son named Isac Madhavaraj.

It is reported that the actor passed away due to age related health issues. Known for his comic roles, Kumarimuthu starred in nearly 1000 films in his career spanning over three-decades. He was notable for his performances in films like Idhu Namma Aalu, Sahadevan Mahadevan, Oru Oorla Oru Rajakumari and Marumagan. He was best known for his signature laugh.

In his brief stint in politics, Kumarimuthu was a member of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and played the role of their orator in many meetings. He has also won Kalaimamani award. His body is kept in his Nandanam house for public to pay their homage and would be buried this evening.
