Laura Dern to play Witherspoon's mom in 'Wild'

London, Oct 21 (IANS) Actress Laura Dern has joined the cast of the upcoming movie "Wild".

Dern will play actress Reese Witherspoon's on-screen mother in the movie, which will be directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, reports deadline.com.

Written by Nick Hornby, the movie is an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's best selling 2012 memoir "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail".

The movie chronicles Strayed's 1,000-mile journey walking the Pacific Crest Trail after divorce, drug abuse and the death of her mother.
