Mammootty to join Sir Ben Kingsley

According to reports, Mammootty will team up with English actor Ben Kingsley for an upcoming historical movie.


Both the actors will share screen space with equally important roles in the film which is based on the life story of Cheraman Perumal.


While Mammootty plays Cheraman Perumal, Sir Ben Kingsley will do the character of Malik Deenar. The story is based on the research thesis of Dr M H Illyas.


The movie titled 'The Companion' is planned to be a big budget movie of around Rs 100 crores. The film will be released as a multilingual one. 'The Companion' will be directed by noted Bollywood director Shuja Ali.


Ilayaraja's son Yuvan Sankar is the music director for the movie. Anjumrajab Ali, Dr Ashgar Vajath, and Shuja Ali together pen the script. Many noted Hollywood and Bollywood actors will be part of the cast.


Muscat and UAE are the main locations. 'The Companion' will be produced by Said Asif under the banner of A S R Media. The movie is planned to be released simultaneously in Malayalam, Urdu, English, and Arabic.


Sir Ben Kingsley is known for his role as Mohandas Gandhi in the 1982 film 'Gandhi' for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
