Mani Ratnam's biopic?

At a time when biopics are the flavor of the season, it did not appear strange when a report about a biopic on the ace director Mani Ratnam being made by Rensil D’Silva came about. Rensil is known for films like Qurban, Rang de Basanti and Ungili.

But there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding in this bit of news. Rensil says, “I have been misquoted. Mani Ratnam and I have worked together a script. We started this work in 2007 and Mani sir wanted me to direct. The film is a sort of biopic on a businessman whose rags to riches story is what the film all about”. So people have misunderstood this to be Mani Ratnam's biopic. This film is now funded by Karan Johar.

On the other hand, Mani Ratnam has started work on his next project featuring Dulquar Salman, Nithya Menon and Prakash Raj which is said to be romance based.
