'Mary Kom' team showers praise on the real Mary Kom

Bollywood film "Mary Kom" team, director Omung Kumar and actress Priyanka Chopra, lauds the unstoppable boxing champion M.C. Mary Kom for winning India's first women's boxing gold in Asian Games on Wednesday.

Mary Kom defeated Kazakhstan's Zhaina Shekerbekova in the flyweight (48-51 kg) final in Incheon on Wednesday, to create history.

"What a role model! Mary Kom has proved yet again that she is unstoppable. This amazing mother of three has made India proud today just as she has done throughout her career and has shown the world what a true champion is made of!", Priyanka said in a statement.

"Having literally been in her shoes, I truly understand the hard work and sacrifices she has had to endure. She truly is a 'Ziddi dil'", she added.

Omung, who made his directorial debut with the biopic on the boxing sensation, said he is proud of "our true hero Mary Kom".
