Race Gurram Telugu Movie Review
Race Gurram is the story of two brothers Ram (Shyaam) and Lakshman (Allu Arjun) who don't see eye to eye. Ram becomes a Police officer and Lakshman is happy go lucky lad who is planning to fly to America. Lakshman takes on a local politician, Shiva Reddy (Ravi Kishan) and falls in to trouble. Rest of the story is all about Brother sentiment blossoms in Lakshman and how he saves his brother.
Race Gurram is Allu Arjun's career best performance. He improved a lot as an actor in terms of comedy timing and dialogue delivery. Shyaam is good. Both the heroines Shruti Hassan and Saloni have very little to do and they are okay. New comer, Ravi Kishan is too loud and even the lip sync is missing. Brahmanandham is the heart of the movie and he livens it up with his excellent comedy. Prakash Raj is good. Posani is hilarious as Home Minister. Rest of the characters are okay.
The story seem to have heavy inspiration from Thadaka plot and Brahmi's comedy track as Kill Bill Pandey looks like as an extension of his role in Baadshah. As most times. Surrender Reddy once again messed up the screenplay. The film totally goes wayward in the second half with zero logic and silly characterization. Only Brahmi's 20minutes comedy track is a relief in the second half. All the songs are either misplaced or badly shot.
Fights are totally absurd and violent. Thaman's Background music worked out very well. Editing is okay in the first half and should have been a lot better in the second. Cinematography by Manoj Parmahamsa is awesome.
The first half of the movie is average and except for the Brahmi's track, every thing is crap in the second half. But the comedy is too good that it can be a game changer for the movie's fate. Given no stiff competition, the movie is expected to rake good amounts at the box office.
