Contrary to the hype, Pavan Kalyan's "Gudumba Sankar" falls flat on its face. It might have done better, if he had not tried to be so different.

The film has neither enough action nor a love track to satisfy his fans. He has himself done the screenplay, which has many loopholes.

It is when he tries to win his love by tricks instead of bashing up the baddies (as he does in the climax), that Pavan disappoints his fans the most.

Meera Jasmine does look pretty. It is a pity, though, that the actress of such proven talent is wasted in a poorly etched role.

The story is about an orphan (Pavan), who ekes out a living by doing odd jobs. Among other things, with the support of a cop, he loots illicit liquor from liquor barons.

One day he earns the wrath of a dreaded liquor don (Sayaji Shinde) and leaves the city. On the way he happens to meet a girl and he helps her out with some money.

Later he comes to know from a newspaper advertisement that she has left her house unwilling to marry a don (Ashish). When Ashish forcibly takes Meera back Pavan decides to help. Ashish wants to marry Meera since he assumes that she is his lucky mascot believing the words of a fake godman (Brahmanandam).

Pavan traps the godman and enters her house as a wedding planner. He creates few incidents to make Ashish believe that she is unlucky.

Ashish decides to leave when his factory is burnt down.

It won't be proper to give away the rest of the story. Suffice it to say that Pavan bashes up all adversaries at the end.

The bash-up comes too late, alas, for his fans.
