Byomkesh Phire Elo Bengali Movie

Feature Film | 2014 | UA
Critics:
Byomkesh Bakshi. A must watch is a lesser way of calling the film perfect. A few murders, a simple weapon and some overtly simple yet perfectly complicated reasons to the murder. Surprises are in galore, when you sit to watch Byomkesh Phire Elo.

Benishonghar is the Bengali word for a tightly tied bun. When does a woman tighten her bun? She tightens it to look tidy and hide traces of disorder. It is easy to avoid disorder but hell breaks lose and order crumbles, the moment the bun is loosened. Based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's story of the same name, Benishonghar is adapted on screen as Byomkesh Phire Elo by director Anjan Dutt.

Byomkesh Phire Elo is part of the Byomkesh trilogy that was initiated in 2010 by Anjan Dutt. This Byomkesh film marks the closure of the trilogy. Even though it might be the end or should be treated as the conclusion of the screen adaptations of Byomkesh by Anjan Dutt. This film leaves a strong after taste and is probably one of the best Byomkesh Bakshi films, since Chiriyakhana (1967).

Bakshi is informed over telephone at his residence, that Mr. Benimadhab (Biswajit Chakraborty) has been murdered the other night. While the film begins with a monologue by a man, sooner we find out this man is no other than Benimadhab himself. A man well aware of the dangers of his death, had altered his wheel several times, appointed a bodyguard and assigned Mr. Byomkesh Bakshi to investigate his 'could be' murder a few days before he was actually murdered.

Bakshi visits the house after the murder and starts his series of investigations to find the real murderer. As the investigations unfold and several objects of suspicion are confiscated from the household, several hard truths and underlying dark relationship details and stories begins to surface too.

The labyrinth and the various character sketches to support the maze have been weaved to perfection by Anjan Dutt. There is a very casual approach to the film, which is well supported by the actors. Actor Abir Chatterjee is brilliant and outshines with his casual yet witty performance. Every other character is perfected and the actors are sparkling in their respective portrayal.

Locket Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen and Rahul Banerjee shines with their detailed performance and stands shoulder to shoulder with Abir in perfecting Byomkesh Phire Elo.

A must watch is a lesser way of calling the film perfect. Surprises are in galore, when you sit to watch Byomkesh Phire Elo.
