Nowhere does Core’s film approach the action-movie chops or psychological smarts of Bigelow’s original or, truth be told, benefit from actors displaying the same charm as her stars. The appeal of this Point Break is its high drama (the stunts) and definitely not its dramatic filler.

A thrill ride in need of a few more thrills. The original’s ’90s surf bums become extreme sports nuts and quaint bank robberies become complicated globe-spanning financial attacks designed to devastate markets — with a chaser of Robin Hood — in an overwritten and simultaneously underdeveloped plot.

Inspite of some stunning extreme adventure stunts, Point Break ends up being a generic action movie.If the film succeeds in underlining its spiritual and poetic connotations, it’s in the stunning action set pieces – not CGI generated but real stunts in real locations. But it’s the characters and events that connect these that fail Point Break.

Stay away from Point Break. It is more injurious to health than any of the variety of extreme sports that the film’s protagonists so foolishly indulge in. Warning: please don’t try to make sense of the plot.It could be injurious to your health.Do yourself a favour this New Year. Pop yourself a bowl of popcorn at home and curl up with a dvd of Bigelow’s version of Point Break.
