Kabali is not as bad as many bad films we have this Summer. But then what the Teaser promised and what the fans expected from the film is totally different from what is actually present in the film. And that will lead to a big disappointment. A clear case of false promotion.

Kabali is the story of an aged and a reformed gangster, Kabali (Rajinikanth) who loses more than two decades of his life behind the bars for fighting for the oppressed people in Malaysia. The rest of the story if how he rediscovers his life again and his relationship with the mafia world after his release.

We have seen the shades of that famous Rajinikanth who is gushing with style and attitude in the Teaser and that ensured the film gets immense hype. But things are bit different there. We seen the age taking on his. Even though the energy and the style exists, we miss the ease for which Rajini is more famous. We see him fragile due to age struggling to recreate the old inimitable style. Radhika Apte is a good and dominates even Rajinikanth in one of those scenes. Dhansika is okay. Kishore is good and does justice to his role. Nassar is okay in a little role while the those foreign actors are just dummy.

PA Ranjith does not do justice to the biggest opportunity of his life. The story, screenplay and the narrative pace do not fit in for Rajinikanth who carries that larger than life image. He instead tried to fit in the Superstar in his story which backfired. We finally miss the director's mark as well as Rajini's mark. The film begins well but proceeds at snail's pace and is often predictable. The emotions are often uneven which further bores the audience. The interval bang is bit promising but second half plummets further except for couple of scenes here and there.

Santosh Narayanan created a sea of expectations with the Teaser but then except for that track, rest every thing is disappointing. Editing is a big mishap while Cinematography is excellent. Dialogues are missing Rajinikanth's punches.

Finally, Kabali is not as bad as many bad films we have this Summer. But then what the Teaser promised and what the fans expected from the film is totally different from what is actually present in the film. And that will lead to a big disappointment. A clear case of false promotion.
