Babu Bangaram is definitely not the product what you expect from Maruthi and Venkatesh. It is another routine template comedy. But then the movie is still a one time watch given the entertainment quotient it offers.

Babu Bangaram is the story of a compassionate cop, ACP Krishna (Venkatesh) who has a heart of gold and sympathises with everyone and makes sure he treats everyone with extreme care. One day, he happens to meet the beautiful Sailaja (Nayantara) who runs a mess. He falls in love with her but then it happens for a reason. What is the reason? And where does that lead to forms the rest of the story.

It's been a long time since we have seen Venkatesh is an out and out commercial setup. The delay actually brings in a lot of freshness to the character and the film as a whole. He is immaculate as always with his comedy timing and with an emotional act. However, Maruthi failed to etch his character to perfection. Nayantara is seen in a homely character and he walks through it effortlessly as there is nothing challenging. 30 Years Industry Prudhvi is an asset to the film with his track of Battai Babji. He brings the house down. Vennela Kishore is also impressive as well with good dialogues. There are other comedians as well Brahmaji, Jabardasth Venu, Chammak Chandra etc. but are not used well. Brahmi is seen as a magician and is okay. Posani and Sampath fit the bill fine while Jayaprakash is wasted.

Coming to the director, Maruthi. He picked up a wafer thin story for the biggest opportunity of his life. The movie has shades of Nagarjuna's Nirnayam and the clinched-ness gives you a feel of Maruthi's weakest story still date. But the entertainment quotient becomes the saviour to the film to a good extent. The first half is entertaining with Battai Babji track working big time. It even covers the fact the story is not at moving till the interval. Once things turn serious in the second half, we get to feel that the story lacks the punch. The comedy is good as well in the second half even though it is not up to the first half. The climax is tailored to satisfy the fans and is fine.

Ghibran did a good job with the music and background score as well. Editing is okay. Dialogues are neatly written while action scenes are neatly shot. Production Values are good.

Finally, Babu Bangaram is definitely not the product what you expect from Maruthi and Venkatesh. It is another routine template comedy. But then the movie is still a one time watch given the entertainment quotient it offers.
