"Do not forget those who have helped you" is the maxim that director Radha Bharathi wants to drive through "Kattrullavarai". But disappointingly, told in the most convoluted manner. You do not get anything in exchange for the money and time you spend for the movie. The story lacks in liveliness, charm or surprise.

The story goes... Narmadha (Pranathi) who is in financial distress takes to acting to support her ailing mother's medical needs.

Meanwhile, Bala (Jai Akash) a wealthy and kindhearted young man come to city with an aim to become a singer. He falls in love with Narmadha, and decides to become her watchdog and doubles as her driver.

Hard-luck strikes Narmadha when the release of her film-crucial for her career- gets delayed for want of more funds.

Bala sells his property to help Narmadha realize her dreams. Meanwhile, Mahesh (Kazan Khan) who is desirous for Narmadha's money hatches a plot to kill her. Narmadha suffers 'selective amnesia' when shenanigans try to kill her.

Narmadha’s father supports Bala, who is now in total disarray after loosing money and self-respect. But Narmadha detests him.

Will Bala rejoin Narmadha? Will Bala not release the fruits of his sacrifice? The balance of the film answers these questions.

Jai Akash has done a decent job. His performance especially when Narmadha heaps insults is laudable. His performance would have been recognized if had had a better script.

Pranathi pairs with Jai Akash again after “Gurudeva”. Her stiffly conscious performance is good. However, she lacks vitality and grace.

Vadivelu appears as a watchman. His comedy is dull and obsolete. Comedy by Vanniradai Moorthi and Arthi team provide some chuckling moments. The other supporting cast includes Rajesh, Rajeev, Madhupriya, R Sunderrajan, Pandu, Santhanabharati, T P Gajendran, V.A Murthy, Varalakshmi, Alwa Vasu, Master Ganesh, Kottachi, Gundu Ravi, Bonda Mani and Kumarimuthu.

The film is produced under the banner Sheeaasu Films. Suresh- the producer of the film- performs as a fan of Narmadha and comes in two songs.

Radha Bharathi has done the screenplay, direction and dialogue. His loosely coupled screenplay and hackneyed narration are responsible for not attracting the audience.

The only factor worth mentioning is the lavish set replicating a huge abandoned bungalow created at AVM Studios. Art director P L Deva conceptualized and created the set. The set was used for a fight scene choreographed by fight master Jaguar Thangam.
