Mysskin’s Psycho has his signature written all over it, with oodles of dread and dark humour. It is an intense psychological thriller that gives a little too much away. Although, some of the pieces did not connect, Mysskin still delivers a captivating story. Ilayaraja’s eerie music with a period of silence creates the perfect mood for a blood-soaked hunt of a brutal serial killer.

Mysskin gives the slasher film a spiritual rewiring in his inimitable style. Psycho is proof of how you can take the template of the regular slasher film to turn it into a poetic story of guilt and redemption about the people we call psychopaths and the reasons why they become who they are.

First things first! Myskkin's Psycho is not an easy watch. The writer-director is in good form, but ultimately the film doesn’t bring anything blazingly new or original to the serial killer genre. Nevertheless, his exploration into the mind of a killer is not convincing and the climax is weak.
