Thuruppu Gulan Malayalam Movie

Kochuthoma runs a thattukada (a low class wayside eatery) right opposite Raj Palace, a five star hotel in Kochi. His son Kunjumon runs another thattukada in Kozhikode. And when he is not selling hot dosas and idlis, Kunjumon plays cards. As a matter of fact he makes more money playing cards than he does running his thattukada. He plays it so well he is called Thuruppu Gulaan (in Malayalam, Jack of Trumps). Young and flamboyantly dressed, Thuruppu Gulaan plays for high stakes. He is tough. He came from the streets and he doesn’t mind going back there to start all over again.

Having a thattukada right opposite is an irritant to the owners of the star hotel, and they get Kochuthoma falsely implicated in a case and arrested. When Kunjumon comes to his father’s rescue, he is being battered by police personnel in the payroll of the hotel owners. Kunjumon vows to get even.

Lakshmi is the daughter of a Singapore based businessman who has fallen on bad times and has been arrested. She comes to Kerala to sell the Raj Palace and raise money to clear her father’s debts. It is then that she learns the hotel has been fraudulently taken over by the present owners who were entrusted to manage it by her father. Lakshmi seeks the help of Kochuthoma who was known to her father while in India, to get the property back.

Thuruppu Gulaan promises to be an out and out entertainer for the whole family with lots of humour and plenty of action. Mammootty plays Kunjumon, Innocent plays Kochuthoma and Sneha does Lakshmi. Mammootty is on a winning spree and Thuruppu Gulaan is sure to be the next winner on the cards (pun intended). The film is slated for release during Vishu.
