Coolie Movie Reviews
Coolie has received mixed-to-average reviews from critics. Most agree that the film rides heavily on Rajinikanth’s magnetic screen presence, vintage style, and a handful of well-staged moments — often elevated by Anirudh’s background score. Supporting performances, especially from Soubin Shahir and Sathyaraj, also earn praise. However, critics are largely disappointed with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s screenplay, calling it scattered, dull, or messy, with too many ideas but little narrative impact. The second half, in particular, is described as dragged and lifeless, lacking major twists, novelty, or the promised Rajini–Lokesh magic. Some feel it falls into a template revenge thriller mold, relying on fan service rather than strong writing, while others liken it to a watered-down reprise of older Superstar formulas.
Verdict:
Coolie is a watchable but underwhelming star vehicle — enjoyable mainly for die-hard Rajinikanth fans seeking his charisma, style, and a few crowd-pleasing moments. As a film, it doesn’t break new ground and suffers from pacing and writing issues that dilute its potential.
