"Machchakaran" provides an arena for up and coming actor Jeevan, backed by his two successive hits "Thiruttu Payale" and Naan Avanillai", to compete with biggies like Vijay and Surya this Deepavali.

Director Tamilvaanan of "Kalvanin Kadali" fame says "Machchakaran" is an out and out commercial film with a story tailor-made for Jeevan. He gloats over the film as a 'winning horse'.

The hero is a poor and simple guy who finds himself in complicated situations. He gets a lucky break when he and an affluent girl come closer. How his life changes with the riches is what the story is about. Kamna Jethmalani, who was introduced by Saran in "Irudaya Thirudan", teams up with Jeevan. She plays the role of a modern girl. Malavika does an item number.

According to Jeevan, he had signed for "Machchaikaran" before "Naan Avanillai". His performance in the last two back-to-back hits has increased his confidence level which helped him to do a much better job in "Machchaikaran.

The jumbo cast includes Santhana Bharathi, M.S. Bhaskar, Aarthi, G.M. Kumar, Shobraj, Santhanam, Vaiyapuri, Muthukaalai, Santhanam and Mayilsamy. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music. Venkatesh's camera and Raju Sundaram's choreography gives Tamilvaavanan the confidence that "Machchkaran" will be a winning horse.
