"Rajathiraja" is directed by Shakthi Chidambaram, who gave hits like "Ennama Kannu", "Charlie Chaplin", "Maha Nadigan" and "Englishkaran".

In chess, the king can be checkmated by all others. But in "Rajathiraja", it is the king who checkmates others. Why? How? "Rajathiraja" is the answer, says Chidambaram.

One of the highest ideals is keeping trust. Betrayal of trust is an unpardonable crime. The story is how the protagonist deals with such betrayers Lawrence plays the character of a man of charitable disposition working for the welfare and development of the people in his area.

"Rajathiraja" was the title of one of Rajinikanth's films, but the Lawrence-starrer has nothing in common with Rajini's except for the title.

The story, screenplay and dialogue are by Chidambaram who has evolved his own style of making films which are a mix of romance, action and comedy. But in "Rajathiraja" he has departed from his usual style and made it an action film.

Kavignar Perarasu has written all six songs, including "Enakku Naane Raja...."

The film has been shot in Pollachi, Udumalai, Karaikudi and Munnar. Songs have been filmed in Hong Kong, Indonesia and other places.

While Dhina scores the music, Suresh Devan handles the camera. The art director is Vijai Murugan. Radha Shakthi Chidambaram is the producer.
