Rakshakudu Telugu Movie
Director Jeeva, while filming Rakshakudu few years back in Tamil, lost his life in cardiac arrest. The film was adjudged a super hit in Tamil, it ran to packed houses and also kept the money registers flowing. The film boasts of exciting script, talented actors and above all eloquent music by Harris Jeyraj that even after three years since its original release, the songs are still remembered by many.
Jeyam Ravi is generally popular for his remake films and is one of the heroes who keeps an eye on Telugu films. His remake films have been partly successful and his reputation as an actor has always been good, irrespective of the kind of films he chooses.
Ravi plays a loyal doctor, who upon arrival in Russia learns that he is wanted for a murder. He ends up in Russian prison but in no time breaks free to unite with his lover, he is set to marry. Kangana plays his love interest, portrayed as a belle village girl who is crazily in love with Jeyam Ravi. Laxmi Rai enacts an advocate who helps Ravi in coming out of the case clean and in the process falls for him. What happens to Jeyam Ravi? Does he reunite with his lady love? And what happens between Laxmi Rai and Jeyam Ravi forms the rest of the story?
The performances were neat. All actors did exactly what they were supposed to do, especially Jeyam Ravi who proved his mettle one more time. Kangana plays her role to perfection and this is the first time she was seen showing off her acting skills than skin. Laxmi Rai was clearly roped in to offer much needed oomph and sleaziness in to the film.
Being a cameraman, Jeeva handled the cinematography himself. He earlier contributed his brain for blockbusters like Gentleman, Indian etc. As a result, the film looks like a colorful canvas and every frame is encased with richness and grandeur. Harris's music is like a lullaby; every song is soothing and puts the audience to sleep. Background score also proved worthy as it echoes and carries forward the mood of the film throughout. Direction was usual, nothing spectacular but one has to certainly identify and applaud the later director for his effort put in to make the film visually appealing.
The director's loss was clearly visible towards the end of the film. One might get the feeling that the film would've been better had the director was alive. But, in spite of several glitches the film lives up to the expectation and also succeeds in entertaining as promised.
