Naa Peru Shiva Telugu Movie
Imagines this! How would you feel when a film talks to you? I mean not for real, but just imagine because sometimes it feels as if they're communicating with you. "Na Peru Shiva" screams out loud the following, "I'm a complete family entertainer, come, watch me before I'm gone. That's right, the film succeeds in making you move from your house, go to a theatre and watch it.
A dubbed version of Tamil film, "Naa Mahan Alla", NPS is like bursting a cracker during diwali, a cracker that produces enough sound but not lasting impact.
The story revolves around three characters: Shiva aka Karthi, Priya aka Kajal-Shiva's girlfriend and Jayaprakash aka Jayaprakash-Shiva's father. Shiva, raised by his father since the demise of his mother, is the most pampered son in the local vicinity. To Shiva, his father, who works as a call taxi driver, is the most important person in this world and there isn't anything he can't do for him. All is well in this family, until one day, the father is killed by few college students over a dispute that made them prime suspects in a murder case. Shocked by the incident, Shiva sets out to find and bring them to justice. That's pretty
much the premise, I'm sure you can predict the rest of the story.
Now, we have seen plenty of films of this genre- Father/Mother-Son relationship torn apart by bad guys and the latter sets out to avenge the killers. There is hardly any scope for novelty and thus the short- lived impact that I talked about in the beginning. There wasn't anything in the film that made me feel or say, 'wow'. Pathetic!
The film races like a stallion in the first half with the right dose of comedy; the second half went little haywire while introducing the thrill-factor. For some reasons, Karthi didn't seem like an actor, so suitable in this role that required him to show his vendetta side. He is more appropriate portraying a happy-go-lucky type of guy who can do anything to protect his love. Nevertheless, I should accept that Karthi wasn't any different from other films that he did in the past. He was committed, passionate and
completely fitting in this film. Kajal, on the other hand, did justice to what she was roped in to provide. Glamour! She wasn't any different from her previous films either, although one might feel she is getting accustomed to acting with younger heroes and may discard to work with senior actors in the future.
Suseendran's direction was like putting together broken pieces of a puzzle together; unorganized and confusing. The start he gave to the first half the film is to be appreciated, but the screw-up in the second half overshadows the good start. I guess lot of homework is what he needs now, before starting work on next project. Cinematography by Madhi, a not so popular cinematographer, isn't worth talking about but there were signs of class in bits throughout the film, which needed tweaking and attention.
Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is a blessing to this film. It just weren't the songs that are worth mentioning, but the background score as well. This film may not become one of his best films ever composed, however undoubtedly one to be remembered for a while. Once again, short-lived impact that
I previously spoke about. I somehow feel Yuvan didn't go the extra mile, the push he should've given himself for this film.
Finally, 'Na Peru Shiva' is just the kind of film that both, B and C centre audience would enjoy and love
to see over a weekend in spite of several shortcomings. The A centre audience might become finicky at times, therefore I doubt if they would accept this film with arms wide open.
