Musician Kaithapram Viswanathan dies

Singer and music composer Kaithapram Viswanathan died on Wednesday. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer at MVR Cancer Centre in Kozhikode. The 58-year-old musician is the brother of noted lyricist and music composer Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri.

Making his debut in Jayaraj-directed ‘Kannaki’, Viswanathan has composed music for around 20 films. His notable films include ‘Kannaki’, ‘Orma Maathram’, ‘Madhyavenal’, ‘Thilakkam’, ‘Ullam’ and ‘Ekantham’. He got the State Award for the Best Background Score for the film ‘Kannaki’.

The musician is survived by wife Gouri and children Adithi, Narmada and Kesav.
