New Delhi, June 15 (IANS) Their latest album, "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom", has strong Sufi and Punjabi sounds mixed with a lot of rock and ethnic influences. But composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy give the credit for the hit songs to two other people.

Producer Aditya Chopra and director Shaad Ali pushed the trio to bring out the rocking album, they say.

"Aditya has this amazing ability to pick out the kind of song that would be popular. He and Shaad really pushed us - as they did while making 'Bunty Aur Babli' - to create the music of 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom'," said Ehsaan.

The film, starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta, is releasing Friday.

Ehsaan denied that the album defies Chopra conventions.

"I don't think there is anything called a Chopra convention. If a particular kind of music works with the film they will go with it."

Talking about their favourite songs in the track, the composer said: "All three 'Jhoom' tracks rock. I like the idea of using a similar refrain in all three, yet all songs sound different. 'Kiss of love' is for the dance floor and Vishal has sung the song with a lot of energy.

"The next one is 'Halke halke. It is melodically rich and has a strong Indian melody. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan adds a Sufi touch with his voice. Mahalakshmi delivers the song in her silky and very melodic voice.

"'Ticket to Hollywood' is situation based and has a funky hip hop Punjabi feel to it with a very different, funky sounding groove. Niraj's voice gives it that different texture the song requires."

On how they decide on the sounds for each track, he said: "We experiment a lot in the studio and bring our influences to the music. We have varied influences and we listen to many different kinds of music and then decide."

The trio has quite a few projects in the pipeline - "Hey Baby", "Taare Zameen Par", "Johnny Gaddar", "Short Cut" and Amol Palekar's "Dum Kutta". Kunal Kohli and Nikhil Advani have signed them on for their next projects.
