Bappi Lahiri was sentimental singing for Abhishek

Mumbai, June 25 (IANS) Bappi Lahiri, who has found renewed success after his compositions for "Taxi No 9211" were runaway hits, says he was sentimental when he recorded a song for Abhishek Bachchan in "Guru".

"Years ago I had sung for Abhishek's father Amitji. It was a song titled 'Aana Jaana' in the film 'Geraftaar'. When I was called by A.R. Rahman to sing for Abhishek, I immediately went down memory lane, to almost 30 years ago, when I had sung for his father," said the versatile composer-singer.

Recently he became the second of the three generations of Lahiris to record songs with the nightingale Lata Mangeshkar. His father Aparesh Lahiri had recorded with Lata earlier. Now, Bappi's son Bappa too will record with the singer.

Bappi has also been signed by producer Pehlaj Nihalani to give music in a new film. "I've scored music for so many of Pehlaj-ji's films in the 1980s. It's good to be back in his cinema," says Bappi.
